Theft of Motor Vehicle Auckland Road

Dear Resident

Between 10:30 pm on Sunday 16th and 7:30 am on Monday 17th of August a theft of a vehicle occurred in Auckland Road. The vehicle a Black Mercedes was parked on the owner’s driveway.(Between Suffolk Road and Borough Way).

It is possible that the vehicle was stolen around 3am on Monday morning and would be interested in any CCTV that covers this time frame and shows a Black Mercedes being driven.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
